CDSFA & BDAFA join forces for Futsal Competitions at Morris Ieema Indoor Sports Centre
The Boards of Canterbury District Soccer Football Association (CDSFA) and Bankstown District Amateur Football Association (BDAFA) are pleased to announce that both Associations have agreed to a partnership that will deliver Futsal competitions at the Morris Ieema Indoor Sports Centre in Riverwood. In what is a major coup for members of both Associations, they will now be able to play futsal all year around for their local Club.
“When we found out Council was taking over the operation of the sports centre in Riverwood we put forward a proposal them to run their futsal competitions. The centre is right in the middle of both districts so it appeals to all members.” Explained BDAFA General Manager, Shane Merry.
The year-round competition will offer competitive matches for all ages and for both men’s, women’s and mixed competitions. Members of both Associations will now be given the opportunity to play Futsal as well as their outdoor competitions during the year.
“CDSFA is looking forward to it. It’s a brand-new concept to us and I think the best thing about it is that there are no issues with wet weather. That’s half our headaches gone.” Laughed long term CDSFA CEO, Ian Holmes.
The Summer competitions will commence on the week of Monday 4th September and will run until early December. All competitions will have a few weeks off before resuming in mid-January.
“We welcome both CDSFA and BDAFA on board this project. It’s great to see two grassroots associations who have traditionally looked after outdoor competitions come into the futsal sector of the sport. Futsal is a popular sport due to its fast paced and the fact that it can be played all year round” outlined Centre Manager, Shane Demir.
